We hope everyone has weathered the Covid-19 storm well! It will be exciting to have everyone back!
We are finally permitted open with restrictions on 6/05/20, things won’t be quite the same but it’s better than closed! The good news is that we were pretty much already on point with our cleaning practices, only a few changes there. I guess the office and check-in procedures present the biggest policy changes.
The state of NH requires guests to sign a document attesting to having quarantined for the 14 days prior to arriving in NH. We require all guests have their temperatures taken and sign an agreement that you understand there still could be risks.
Although we realize requiring to check our guests temperatures upon check-in seems like a bit much, we do take this virus seriously and feel it is a small inconvenience to keep everyone safe.
The difference in the cottages is that we felt some things wouldn’t be able to be properly sanitized in the time we have to prepare for the next guest. We are removing the dinnerware, glassware, silverware and have replaced those with disposables. We are leaving the cookware and utensils. We have also removed all books, magazines, games, decks of cards, and clothes hangers. All of which are available upon request, including additional paper plates etc. As always, we encourage everyone to let us know if they need anything.
Just a note to let everyone know that we will be closed December 11 – 16 for some needed repairs. We reopen December 17th to welcome our holiday guests! We will return all phone messages. Our online booking system is available 24/7 for those who may be concerned about missing an opening, just remember, your card information must match exactly ( omitting a middle initial could cause the card to be declined) Should that occur, please give the system a few minutes to reset, it’s like a password reset, if you try again too soon, it will decline again. If you do have any trouble making a reservation, please leave us a phone message and we will be happy to assist you.
Our target this spring has been Cottage #3 ! Our main focus is on the kitchen and bath, with a fresh new look for the living room and bedroom. Unfortunately, because of the unusually long winter this year, we don’t expect to have time to work on the three season porch. We will post the new photos on the web site as soon as it’s completed, expected to be right before memorial day. Our “regulars” are going to flip when they see it!
Whoops! Our ranking on trip advisor just dropped one point, not because we received any bad reviews, but our “ranking” also takes into consideration the amount of reviews we receive. So please feel free to help us achieve our goal to make Sunny Brook rank #1 in Conway! (we’ll keep working on the stars)
Wishing everyone a Happy 2018! Thanks to all of our old friends for recommending the many new friends we’ve met this year! A special thanks to all for the great reviews on Facebook, Google, and keeping us listed #2 out of 10 in Conway on trip advisor! (we’re working on #1)
No major improvements to report this year, but quite a few minor projects. We are almost done upgrading to all flat screen TV’s, we are about 80% complete replacing all the mattresses. Four cottages have new wall to wall carpeting, we have replaced a few futons, plus many smaller projects that our regulars will certainly appreciate! Our goal is to make Sunny Brook a little better each day!
Last week, some of our favorite “r’s” showed up again in one of the cottage journals, ” relaxing, rejuvenating, and refreshing “! Many guests have described their stay that way, and we never get tired of hearing it!
Well, we might have dropped the ball when it comes to keeping up with our blog, but we have remained steadfast with our commitment to make Sunny Brook a little better each day. We strive to make your next stay even better than your last!
In just the last few months we have made many improvements. Cottage #6 has just been updated with a brand new look. In #3 we added built-in bunks, and a larger table for the sun porch. Cottages 5 and 9 have new flat screen TV’s. Cottage #8 has new wall to wall carpeting.
Cottage #2 is finally done! It took a lot longer than expected, but it was worth the wait! The feedback from Facebook has been awesome! It’s still our smallest cottage, but with the ceiling now vaulted, it’s really “opened” up.
Something happened in the middle of renovating Cottage #2, we ended up working on #4 ! Cottage #4 is now completed, all knotty pine, custom built-ins to maximize space, flat screen tv/dvd and even a USB charging receptacle! Gettin’ better at the brook every day!
Skiers were a little disappointed with snow conditions this year, but the hikers took full advantage of the situation. Many of our guests came to enjoy the ice castles this winter, some just came to decompress and relax in front of the fireplace. Many have asked when they would need to book for the summer, the answer was always “now”, especially if your dates are not flexible and you have a favorite cottage. July is currently 20% booked followed by August, then June. Those planning to rent multiple cottages really need to start firming up a date!
Now that winter is winding down, we able to start focusing on some of this years improvements. We now have receptacles in ALL of the cottage bathrooms! We are also in the process refurbishing cottage #2. We have really put a lot of time into considering all of your needs, while maximizing the space. We are hoping to have it completed by the third weekend in April. Watch our FB page for the before and after photos and current projection for completion. Don’t forget; our correct facebook page is Sunny Brook (two words) Cottages!
Fryeburg Fair/ Columbus Day Week was so busy, we felt bad having to turn away so many. Don’t get shut out next year, we already have 5 bookings for that week next year! It’s never too early to book, especially if you have a favorite cottage.
Fall in the White Mountains, beautiful scenery, many special events, just a whole new world compared to summer. The weather has been glorious, and the colors breathtaking. Still plenty to do and see in October and early November. Check out VisitWhiteMountains.com, and our local links, just too many events to list here.
We have started booking for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Eve. If that is something that you are considering, don’t wait until the last minute, we only have 10 cottages!
